On the 5th October 2017, the children voted for their new members of parliament and elected a Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and Speaker. There was great excitement in school as candidates from Year 2 to Year 5 were elected within their classrooms. In the afternoon, candidates from Year 6 delivered their speeches and set out their manifestos. This was the pinnacle of a long and hard campaign fought by all candidates. Over the previous weeks, posters had been printed, badges had been made – all to convince the electorate to vote for them.
