We enable all children to engage fully in all aspects of school life. To do this, we:
Ensure that all children with SEND are fully included in all activities of the school in order to promote the highest levels of achievement. We use other techniques and resources to help children to:
- Understand routines
- Cope with anxiety, or to self-soothe at times of stress
- Manage behaviour
- Aid communication. This might include using visual aids for routine to help children (e.g. those with autism) to structure their day; producing visual timetables, and planning tools, for example to help children know what is coming next
Provide a lunchtime nurture group to help support children who may feel overwhelmed by social or play situations.
Ensure every child has the entitlement to a sense of achievement. We present certificates to recognise progress and effort, not just achievement of outcomes and academic attainment. We recognise children who promote the school values of respect, inclusion, courage, honesty, empathy and safety as well as the more academic achievements. This means that pupils with SEND are always included and the whole school celebrates their successes with them.
