Welcome to Year 1/2!

We have 26 children in our class. There are 14 Year 1 pupils and 12 Year 2 pupils. It’s very busy in year 1/2. Our teacher is Mrs Brotchie and our teaching Assistant is Miss Dunn.

Miss Devlin teaches the Year 2 children in the mornings.

PE

We have PE on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please ensure that PE kits are in school. We also do the daily mile at 11:45 every day. We like to keep fit and healthy! Please make sure your child child brings a water bottle to school each day. Thank you.

Home Reading

Please listen to your child read every night. If your child has finished their book and is confident with reading it, it would be helpful if you could spend some time asking your child questions about it. Please sign their reading record each night so we know your child has read.

Spring Term…

So far this term, we have been learning about

• two abstract artists, Kandinsky and Delaunay, in Art,
• Belonging in RE
• our school and the world in Geography.
• numbers to 20 and our x2, x5 and x10 multiplication tables in Maths.

Art

We have looked at work by Kandinsky and Delaunay. We created our own work in their style, using circles and shapes, lines and vibrant colours.

RE

We have been thinking about what it means to belong and learning about Christianity.

Geography

We have started looking at the features of our school and have been using maps and aerial photographs. We have drawn our own plans of the school.

In Year 2, we have been learning about the world’s continents and oceans and about the hot and cold areas of the world.

Science

We are now learning about plants.
