Curriculum Intent

At Ropery Walk Primary School, we value Design and Technology as an important part of the children’s entitlement to a broad and balanced curriculum. We believe that Design and Technology prepares children to take part in the development of tomorrow’s rapidly changing world. Design and technology develops skills that encourage learners to think creatively and critically.

Design and technology enables learners to become autonomous and creative problem-solvers working individually and as part of a team. We encourage learners to use their creativity and imagination to design and create real and relevant products within a variety of contexts. We provide opportunities for learners to reflect upon and evaluate past and current products and their effectiveness, to encourage children to become informed consumers and potential innovators.
