Welcome to Year3/4 LB!
There are 25 children in the class with Miss Beadle and Miss Jackson.
Our P.E days are Tuesday and Friday. Can you please ensure that children have full P.E kit on these days.
All Children will choose their own reading book once a week. If your child is a confident reader and they enjoy reading more than one book in a week then they are welcome to return their reading book and choose another one. Please sign their reading record so we know your child has read that week.
First week in Year 3/4
During our first week back we enjoyed reading ‘Flat Stanley’ by Jeff Brown. We really enjoyed this book and produced many pieces of wonderful writing and art work.
Autumn Term Topics
This term in Geography, we will be learning about the Mediterranean and why so many people holiday there. We will also look in more detail at certain Mediterranean countries and look at the way of life in that country and how it differs to ours. We will also be drawing famous buildings/landmarks from these countries.
In Science we will be studying Rocks and soils and Food and our bodies. This second topic will link with our DT and we will be designing and making a healthy sandwich snack.
In Literacy we will be reading a text called ‘Sand Wizards’ and will produce a beach description. The non-fiction aspect of this unit will look at holiday brochures and we will produce an informative leaflet on our local area.
In Numeracy we will be focussing on place value and addition and subtraction. We will also be doing lots of problem solving and applying our new knowledge.
Our topics in P.E are Dance, Multi-skills, Invasion Games and Gymnastics.
Spring Term
In Literacy we have been writing stories about two robots who go on a day out! We designed front covers and wrote blurbs to go with our story.
This term we have been learning about Ancient Egypt. So far we have looked at the importance of the River Nile, food and daily life, hieroglyphs and mummification. We wrote instructions for how to mummify a body!
We have recently been awarded 100 % attendance and decided to celebrate with a Pyjama/movie afternoon. As we were reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as our class novel, we decided that we wanted to watch the film too. We had a lovely afternoon and the film was very funny!
